Evoked by new transportation technology, hi-tech communication tools and liberalized economy, individuals all over the world tend to take a decision about where to reside, which country to choose as a homeland, which citizenship to hold. Expats, asylum seekers, guest workers, undocumented migrants all have one basic thing in common..
 
Some point of their life this people decided to leave their place of birth and pursuit happiness elsewhere, relying only on their own talents and hard work, Thereby century old traditions, rituals and old change dramatically shaping national or religious group identification along completely new lines. Even though millions of expats or migrants benefited from the new opportunities, it appears that unfortunately for even bigger majority of people this new trend is extremely frightening. Among with the “traditional” phobia’s like century’s old prejudice against black people or religious rivalry, some ofthe fears are often difficult to identify, due to their complexity which no one seems to comprehend in absolute terms.

Project scenario includes role game workshops, where visitors will experience what it means to be "other": like giving some journalists or politicians an opportunity to play a role game experiencing themselves as the asylum seekers during the first steps of applications, or as a deportedalians; or socially rejected illegal immigrants. Our project focuses also on this issue of dividing lines drawn by globalization within the societies in nation states. Through the means of art the project reveals those borders, asks for their reasons and outcomes The gallery also wants to provide the facilities for an open and free discourse of this issue aside form narrow-minded attitude and stereotyped framing, analyzing the current protectionist measures and migration restrictions in many country’s, like “propiska” in Russia or notorious US-Mexico wall... High ranked diplomats, strategic decision-makers, leading public figures and politicians from EU parliament, NATO and other institutions will be invited and involved in the debates

It should be mentioned that uncertainty is usually more frightening to people than the knowledge of some actual disaster.
Recently we saw this fears being brought into the politics and law making in many country’s where the nationalist demagogues or openly xenophobic figures were brought to the top of the political system by this irrational fear of strangers.. The project “Traditionalism and the Return of Insecurity” focuses on the most alarming trend and traced phobic and stereotyped attitude toward “others”. Under the label “others” may fall foreigners, ethnic or religious minorities, refugees, asylum seekers or work migrants.Weare planning an exhibition of photography, painting and sculpture, revealing the stories behind xenophobia, discrimination and racism in different countries.
