The project
focuses on the
current, arguable issue concerning Turkey’s historical
affiliation with Europe and it’s Integration in EU
its controversy, pros and cons arguments, different approaches and even stereotyped deep-rooted prejudices spread in various slopes of the “Western” society.

EUROPE’S PAST IN TURKEY
Through a widespread exhibition of paintings, photography, new media items and installations revealing Turkey’s legacy in Europe and vice versa, the Projects aims to illustrate the Turkey’s essential influence in Europe's transformation between what we term the 'medieval' and 'modern' periods and thus support the idea that Turkey was and should be considered as Europe’s vital part. However, the Project intends to highlight all sides of current issue and includes expanded exhibition materials,

 
displaying Armenian Genocide and Cyprus question.
Thus, with exposition presenting contemporary and traditional artworks (part of which we hope to obtain with the partnership of Turkish Ministry of Culture) project tends to add relevant viewpoints to all aspects of debatable issue. Moreover, reconsider past Moreover, reconsider past relation between Europe and Turkey, its further geopolitical elaboration and contribute towards a better understanding of this important matter on political, cross-cultural and social levels. The debate about Turkey’s Integration into the
Europe and moreover, Ottomans legacy in this part of the world, is not only hotly discussed on political tribunes and in lobby conversations, but reveals furthermore underlying assumptions and fundaental tereotypes existing in Europe towards non-Christian countries and cultures.
Therefore, besides exhibition the gallery will provide the facilities for an open and free discourse of this issue aside form stereotyped framing and biased approach. Workshops, round tables and discussion groups will be organized and to make the public debate significant for political and academic circles, Gallery will invite well-known public and leading political guest speakers with diverse backgrounds and distinctly different viewpoints, as well as decision-makers, politicians from EU parliament, NATO and Turkish government..
